Service Description

The Gatehouse is a drop-in café for homeless people and vulnerably-housed adults aged 25 or over. There is no formal referral process - we operate an open-door policy on a drop-in basis.

The café currently averages 347 visits a week and is accessed by up to 70 individuals an evening. The project engages some of the most hard to reach and entrenched rough sleepers on a regular basis, and has an informal approach when working with people.

The Gatehouse is a volunteer-led organisation with approximately 400 helpers. They prepare the food every day, deliver the front line service, and undertake administration and website management. A small team of paid staff helps the different volunteer teams manage risk or complex issues within sessions.
